     Many low priced computers at large retailers are end-of-life units meaning they have very limited upgradeability and aren't in production anymore. Buying parts to upgrade an old system can be more expensive than newer, faster parts that, unfortunately, your machine can't handle. Some of these large retailers use proprietary parts that are more expensive to replace than industry standard replacements.
