I'm a local business. Can I advertise on your site?
submitted it iOur mail server is smpt.iamnow.net for outgoing and pop.iamnow.net for incoming. Standard ports and authentication is not needed if you are connecting to the internet using an IAMNet account.
Sort of. We are working on a fully automated process that would setup your requested password in our radius (Password) authentication and accept billing information but are still working with our vendor. In the interim we have provided a sign up form. Once the form is submitted it is emailed to our admins for follow up. Our admins will activate your password and contact you to see if you have any questions.
The local telephone company for these two towns will not provide wholesale local dial-up access numbers to competitors. The reason other towns in TDS territory such as Bradford, Hillsborough and others have our service is that they can locally call a town outside ot TDS control where we have local dial-up numbers. With wholesale dial-up numbers we can add customers in an area one at time without increased overhead. In the past we had purchased a contract for a PRI line to serve Henniker and Warner but as our customer count dropped in those two towns it became impractical to resign a long term contract. We are searching for a way around the phone company to again provide service. We are compiling a list of names of people interested in our service. We need 80 total between Warner and Henniker to make a PRI line profitable. If you are interested please send us an email expressing your interest as we work to come back to these two towns.
A dial up connection will download between 3K - 6K per second. So a 1MB file will take approximately 170 -341 seconds or 3 - 6 minutes on a connection connected at 42Kbps+. These are rough numbers but they give you an idea of what happens when someone sends you a 10MB photo on your email. (10MB may take ((1024*10)/3=3412 secs or 56 minutes!)
1 kilobyte (KB) = 1024B
1 megabyte (MB) = 1024KB
1 gigabyte (GB) = 1024MB
There could be a number of things so let's take a look at some common ones.
1. If you are able to talk to on the phone line that you are using for the modem without interference then the line quality should be good enough to support dial up. Make sure when you are on the phone you aren't hearing various hisses, static or clicks indicating line interference.
2. If possible cut the problem in half by dialing up from another computer. As far as modems go you get what you pay for and budget modems will give budget performance. Before you go out and buy another modem though try another computer on the line you are dialing from. If you don't have another computer feel free to bring it by our shop for us to try here. If the problem doesn't exist on an alternate computer we know the trouble is within the original computer. (software, modem, etc)
3. Update the modem drivers. The modem driver is the software that you install on the computer to make the modem work. From time to time manufactures update their drivers to take care of bugs etc. Simply reinstaling the modem with the same driver can sometimes straighten out issues as well. Updating the driver can be tough as you will need to go to the modem manufacture's site to download the latest drivers and if youf modem is disconnecting you may not be able to get there. If you get stuck we can help.
4. Notify us. We can look into issues with our local access numbers to diagnose issues above our control. We don't know you're having trouble on your modem until you tell us. Call us or send us an email with a description of the problem and the number you are using to dial up. We are happy to help.
The NH two way communication tax of 7% on internet access products is our only hidden fee. This tax is charged based on our business location in NH and not on where you are dialing up from.
We are aware of the issues Fairpoint dial up customers are facing with Fairpoint's rocky transition. Our access numbers are not provided by Fairpoint. We have not experienced trouble with customers in Fairpoint territory being able to dial up and connect to numbers. Find a local access number for your town here.
If you search the web there is all sorts of advice. So much that we have decided to devote a page to condensing information for you. Our tips can be viewed here.
We have worked with many antivirus products over the years. Although we do not support any antivirus product we have a few favorites. View our recommendations here.
Dail up: Dial up is a month to month product with no contract. and we have many seasonal customers using dial up.
High speed: We are working to provide a seasonal high speed product. Costs associated with leasing phone lines from the encumbent phone company, costs associated with the install and costs associated with equipment make a business model tough. Although we do not have a product that is not to say we aren't willing to work with you. Call or email so we can learn how we can help.
It depends. Many things are better done in our shop such as a virus clean up or system tune up. It isn't feasible for you to pay a technician to sit in front of your computer waiting for scans to finish before the real work begins. We also believe that to see 100% of the issue we need to use multiple tools which adds time. We also make a habit of backing up systems before beginning a repair and are unable to do that efficiently at a customer premise. Our technicians can work multiple machines at once in the shop keeping the overall cost down allowing us to have a fixed cost for many in shop services. Technicians dispatched to you are on a time and materials basis.
There are always times when a house call is required. House calls are usually scheduled a week in advance. Don't worry, we will help you determine the best approach for you issue.

TDS has stopped forwarding mail on port 25 in an effort to cut down on spam. You can continue to send mail from your iamnow.net mail account from a TDS internet connection by setting your outgoing port to 587 and turning on 'my server requires authentication'. This will also work on IAMNet internet services and will prove helpful if you travel and connect to various networks. You can also continue to use our webmail located on the 'My Account' page.
